5.0 out of 5 stars A very good coffee maker in spite of negative reviews, March 14, 2008
After buying a succession of cheap coffee makers which broke down after a year or two and made mediocre coffee, I decided to upgrade to Cuisinart.
I don't agree with the negative comments about this product.
The clock is easy to program and it's clearly indicated that you should either use paper or gold filter (twice in the instructions). It's also easy to pour water in the reservoir if you use the carafe. You can turn the coffee maker to the left, and the reservoir opening is easily accessible. Its opening is by no means tiny, as a reviewer described it.
The center funnel which holds the filter is well situated and there is very little risk of dropping coffee grounds into the water reservoir.
The carafe is well designed, with a comfortable handle. It pours neatly, without dripping coffee all over the counter, something which always happened with my old Mr. Coffee.
You do have to realize the lid snaps down on top of the carafe. This is not... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Best coffee maker I ever had!, August 13, 2008
By
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
My name is Ryan, and I'm a coffee addict... My habit ranges from 1 to 3 pots a day just to remain conscious. So you can understand the level of misery I have had to endure this past week as my 4 year old Gevalia machine met an untimely death during a recent lightning storm. I then began the hunt for a new machine. Basically, Amazon was my first stop since they have everything. I read all sorts of reviews, and finally settled on this one. I must say, this is by far the best machine I've ever owned.

In reading the reviews, I found a few gripes that I don't agree with, so here's my response to those:

1. The number one gripe I see is filling difficulty. The fill hole is much larger than my old machine. Some people said its too small and makes a huge mess. My first time, it did drip a little bit but if you leave the lid off the pot while pouring, works like a charm. Let me put it this way... I wake up in the morning with the jitters, like a fiend... 5.0 out of 5 stars Everything you could want, April 10, 2008

DJS (Salt Lake City, Utah) - See all my reviews
Hello fellow coffee drinkers. Like most of you I have looked long and hard for a good basic coffee maker. In the last 5 years I have gone through 4 new products and have been quite dissapointed in this whole experience. I mean how hard can it be to make a good coffee maker. I had the basic braun coffee maker for 10 years and loved it. However, two new braun coffee makers later I realized that quality had gone down the drain with the coffee grinds. Then I purchased a krups. I returned it to the store within two weeks as it stopped working. They gave me a replacement which lasted just past the warranty. (figures) Then I tried a GE combo grinder brewer. That was the worst mistake I could have ever made. The first sign that it was garbage should have been when the GE emblem fell off. It leaked. It spilled. I spent more time cleaning than brewing, and thankfully it didn't last as long as its warranty and I had no intentions of getting another one free or not.

I... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars A must for your coffee maker!, March 11, 2006
I purchased these filters from Amazon and am very happy with them. I really noticed an improved taste in my coffee. I think this is a great investment to help maintain the taste of the coffee and increase the lifespan of your coffee maker by reducing build-up from water minerals.

My wife says the coffee tastes better with the filters. I don't drink coffee . Since that means I will purchase the filters the only question is where and the price. Amazon had the best price.

It's very important to change water filter every 30-45 days for the best tasting coffee.

5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT Kettle, July 27, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Hario VKB-120HSV V60 Coffee Drip Kettle Buono (Kitchen)
I used a regular pot with a pour spout 3 months before I purchased this kettle. Let me tell you why the kettle is VASTLY superior to pouring with a pot:

No matter how careful you are while pouring from a pot, the stream has a long ways to travel, and is therefore very brutal on your coffee grounds. I can't tell you how many times I've cussed because something went awry with my pot pour and messed up my coffee grounds.

This kettle is incredible. The design is perfect. You'll be amazed at how smooth the poor comes out of the long spout. Once I received the item, I put regular water in it to test out the pour flow, and even I was impressed with how smooth it was.

Hands-down, this kettle gives you the control you need to make a perfect cup of coffee. It's even flow allows for even extraction, and I could immediately tell a difference in my coffee.

If you're a coffee fanatic (snob) like me, purchase this item.

You won't... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Integral to pour over coffee, March 18, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Hario VKB-120HSV V60 Coffee Drip Kettle Buono (Kitchen)
I make coffee in a Chemex 1-3 Cup Coffee Maker and controlling the pour is important. It's almost impossible to control the pour from a standard kettle. The Buono drip kettle allows very good control and really makes a difference in the coffee. I boil water in a kettle then transfer to the Buono and let the water sit for one minute which gives it time to cool to the right temp (about 92C). I believe it's OK to boil the water in the Buono but I don't. I make sure to dry it when I'm done and only use it to pour. So far, it's been excellent.

5.0 out of 5 stars Zen pouring, January 11, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Hario VKB-120HSV V60 Coffee Drip Kettle Buono (Kitchen)
This kettle provides an immaculate pour, leaving the grounds undisturbed. The design of the spout eliminates all turbulence, which makes splashing and mis-pours almost impossible. All of that sounds odd and a bit OCD unless you already have the 'right' grinder, you've tried a few pour-over makers, and you're starting to weigh the grinds. In addition, this kettle actually feels nice to pour. It's like a little zen garden on your stovetop.
